The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) has compiled a list of safety tips for those who work from home. These tips can also be applied at your office. Wherever you work, keep these electrical safety tips in mind and stay safe.

Electrical Safety Tips While Working From Home
Avoid overloading outlets
Unplug appliances when not in use to save energy & reduce risk of shock or fire
Regularly inspect electrical cords for damage
Only use extension cords on a temporary basis
Never plug a space heater or fan into an extension cord or power strip
Never run cords under carpets, doors, or windows
Make sure cords are not tripping hazards
Make sure you use proper wattage for lighting
Test your smoke alarms monthly, change batteries yearly, and replace the unit every 10 years
